Use bacteriostatic water, not sterile.
Sterile water has been autoclaved but contains no preservative. Bacteriostatic water contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which prevents microbial growth in multi-dose vials. For peptides intended to be drawn from over 24+ hours, bacteriostatic water is required.
Exceptions: Peptides with hydrophobic regions (e.g., dermorphin) may benefit from sterile water with a small amount of acetic acid (1%) for full dissolution.

Never shake. Always swirl.
Peptides are sensitive to mechanical shear. Vortexing, vigorous shaking, or rapid pipette injection can fragment longer peptide chains and reduce active concentration. Add bacteriostatic water slowly along the inner wall of the vial, allowing it to trickle down onto the lyophilized powder.
Once added, swirl the vial gently for 30-60 seconds. Allow another 5 minutes for full dissolution before drawing. The solution should appear clear with no visible particulate.
Refrigerate. Don't freeze.
Reconstituted peptides should be stored at 2-8°C in the original vial. Freeze-thaw cycles introduce ice crystal damage that fractures peptide bonds. Most peptides remain stable for 28-30 days when refrigerated; some shorter sequences (TB-500) may extend to 60.
Lyophilized (powder) peptides, on the other hand, can be kept at -20°C for up to 36 months without degradation, provided they have not been opened or reconstituted.

U-100 syringe. Always.
For accurate measurement of microliter-scale volumes, use an insulin (U-100) syringe. The tighter graduation (1 unit = 0.01 mL) is the only practical way to measure peptide doses with the precision the molecule deserves. Standard 1mL syringes are too coarse.
Use the smallest gauge that allows clean draw — typically 31G for subcutaneous research models. New syringe per draw, every time, no exceptions.
